Frequently Asked Questions

What is MusicEcho?
MusicEcho is a real-time music visualizer. It analyzes the frequency content of sound and renders a 3D neon "topography" that ripples to the beat, complete with meteors and particles. A single codebase runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, in both portrait and landscape.
The visuals don't react to the music — what can I do?
First make sure sound is actually playing and that you've granted audio access. On iPhone / iPad, MusicEcho listens to the music around you via the microphone, so make sure the device isn't muted, the speaker volume is high enough, and nothing is covering the mic. On Mac, you must grant Screen Recording permission so it can read the system audio. Relaunch the app after granting access.
Why does the iPhone / iPad version need microphone access?
The iPhone and iPad versions use the microphone to listen to the music playing around you in real time and drive the visuals. Audio is analyzed locally on your device only and is never recorded, saved, or uploaded. If you previously denied access, you can re-enable the microphone under Settings → MusicEcho.
Why does the Mac version need Screen Recording permission? Does it record my screen?
No screen recording happens. The Mac version uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit to read the currently playing system audio to drive the visuals. That API falls under the Screen Recording permission, but MusicEcho uses only the audio — no screen images are ever captured or stored. The first launch prompts for permission; enable MusicEcho under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, then relaunch the app.
How do I rotate, zoom, and play?
Drag on the screen to rotate the view, and pinch (or pinch/scroll on a Mac trackpad) to zoom. Play / pause: double-tap the screen on iPhone / iPad, press the Space bar on Mac, or tap the play button in the interface.
What color themes are available?
MusicEcho ships with four neon palettes: Nocturnal, Neon Tokyo, Cyber Forest, and Minimal Monochrome. Tap the theme button in the bottom-left corner to switch.
Which devices and OS versions are supported?
MusicEcho supports iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It requires iOS 17 / iPadOS 17 or later, and macOS 14 or later on Mac.
Does MusicEcho collect my data or record my audio?
No. MusicEcho follows the principle of data minimization: audio is analyzed locally in real time and discarded immediately — never recorded, saved, or uploaded. The app requires no account, tracks no behavior, and integrates no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. See our Privacy Policy for details.
The visuals stutter or my device gets warm — what should I do?
MusicEcho does heavy real-time rendering on the GPU, so some warming during extended sessions is normal. If you notice stutter, try closing other resource-heavy apps in the background, make sure your OS is up to date, and lower the ambient volume before retrying. If the problem persists, email us with your device model and OS version.
